Canadian Forces Snowbirds Rocked Summerside

USPA NEWS - The Canadian Forces Snowbirds 431 Squadron is the Canadian military's air demonstration team. The Squadron is based in Saskatchewan at 15 Wing CFB Moose Jaw. The Snowbirds consist of a fleet of the Tudor CT-114 aircraft. For more than 50 years, the Snowbirds have brought millions of Canadians together for thrilling air show displays as well as supporting the nation during hard times with the presence of their symbolic jets.

On June 28th the Canadian Forces Snowbirds took Summerside, Prince Edward Island by storm. Unfortunately, the performance scheduled for the 29th(Sunday) had to be cancelled due weather related issues. Returning to PEI, the home of Confederation, for the first time since 2018, fans were thrilled and welcomed the legendary demonstration team with great enthusiasm.

On June 26th , Air Show Atlantic hosted Media Day and those in attendance we able to see the beloved team land and make their way to the Hot Ramp. Pilots and maintenance crews could be seen securing about the hot ramp making sure each aircraft was in tip top condition for the weekend air displays.

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds 431 Squadron demonstration team's mandate is to demonstrate the skill, training and team spirit of its's members. For more than 5 decades, the Snowbirds have thrilled fans with jaw dropping and heart pounding performances. They have become a true Canadian icon and the pride of a nation.

In a recent interview, Captain Philip Rochon mentioned that the Snowbirds demonstration team was founded 55 years ago and have used the Tudor CT-114 exclusively since the beginning. He went on to say that there are 20 CT-114 jets in the current fleet, of which the team uses 8 along with one spare used by team coordinators. He continued by saying, "The Canadian Forces Snowbirds mission is to be ambassadors for the Canadian Military. "The goal is to show the skill, professionalism and team work that not only makes up the Snowbirds team, but the entire armed forces." He also emphasized that "skill, professionalism, and team work" is needed to keep the team in the air.

For many generations, the Snowbirds have shared a message of inspiration and patriotism that has been woven into the fabric of what unites Canadians as a vast and diverse nation that is recognized around the world.
